The roaring water
Of Niagara Falls
Create a soothing melody
The mist
Splashes
And washes
The traces of Trump
And Barriers
Of Religion and Race,
As we all came on a boat
To claim the wilderness
The untamed land
Nature free of
Any chains
Like the Fall
Of roaring water
Be it in the US
Or Canada,
The boats travel
As close to the Falls
Before being pushed away
By a gravitational
Force that says
Don’t intrude
In the realm
Of purity
And pollute my pristine nature.

SiddiquiMy dissertation is about literary techniques that generate narrative empathy but my poetry traces the impact of emotions on a person's life. I am with the romantic poets as I see poetry as a "spontaneous overflow of emotions" and nature as a soothing force. The collection of poems that I am currently working on deals with how the journey we take to different cultures and landscapes transform us. Sometimes we get the power to heal from drastic life events through travel.
