Jefferson Carter’s work has appeared in journals including Barrow Street and Rattle. His collection Get Serious: New and Selected Poems (Chax Press) was named a Southwest Best Book of 2013. His thirteenth book, Free Hugs, won the 2025 New Mexico Book Design Award and is available from Coyote Arts, New Mexico. Carter lives in Tucson with his wife, Connie, and taught composition and poetry for thirty years at Pima Community College.
