When things don’t go my way
or when I’m feeling lonely,
I go by the pond,
skipping stones
It doesn’t make me happy
It doesn’t make anything better,
but it gives me something to do,
something to watch
Yet, ever since I met her,
I haven’t really gone by the pond
to throw any stones
across the water
It’s like I don’t need to anymore
It’s like I never needed to
because all I know
is that she’s all I need
She’s all I could ever ask for:
a life I want to be a part of,
to give the joys of my own …
a life worth living for …
But it’s been a while,
and time is unforgiving
I’m feeling lonely again,
so I go by the pond once more,
skipping stones
